MARK Howard today warned Jamie Langfield he aims to keep him out of the Aberdeen FC side.

Howard was signed on a free transfer from St Mirren last month as the understudy to Langfield.

A freak injury to Langfield – he suffered a burn on the top of his right foot after spilling hot water on it during the club’s bus journey to their pre-season training camp in England – has suddenly catapulted Howard into pole position to start the new season as first choice.

It’s a challenge the former Arsenal keeper – Howard spent nine years with the Gunners early in his career – is happy to take on.
