ABERDEEN FC defender Rory McArdle today insisted Lee Hendrie would help the Pittodrie young guns shine.

Aberdeen FC are set to secure the 33-year-old former Aston Villa midfielder who impressed in the recent 1-0 friendly defeat to Dunfermline.

Hendrie spent 12 seasons at Premier League Villa, making more than 250 first team appearances.

McArdle reckons that experience would help teenagers like Fraser Fyvie and Peter Pawlett develop further.

He said: “We could see the quality Lee has against Dunfermline.

“That can rub off on young lads like Fraser Fyvie.

“Having a player like Lee at the club would help improve everyone.”
