Car crashes into lamppost in Aberdeen

Emergency services called to crash scene

EMERGENCY services were called to a crash in Aberdeen after a car ploughed head-first into a lamppost.

Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, the police and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to the scene of the car crash on Provost Rust Drive in Northfield, Aberdeen.

A black Mazda 323 crashed into the Aberdeen lamppost, on an island in the middle of the road, but the car’s passengers escaped without injuries.

The car’s bonnet was smashed in towards its windscreen on the right-hand side, and the number plate was left dangling as a result of the crash on Provost Rust Drive in Aberdeen.

Two fire engines and one police car temporarily blocked Aberdeen’s Provost Rust Drive as the crashed car was moved on to the grassy verge.

A spokeswoman for Grampian Fire and Rescue said: “We received a call at about 9.45pm. There were no casualties.”

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “There were several calls made by residents who had heard the car hit the lamppost.”

The Grampian Police spokesman added that the cause of the Aberdeen car crash was still unknown.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed that paramedics were not required at the scene of the car crash on Provost Rust Drive in Aberdeen.
