FORMARTINE United have launched a sensational swoop for the signature of ex-Manchester United and Aberdeen striker Alex Notman.
The 30-year-old is set to start pre-season training with the ambitious Highland League outfit tonight, with a view to signing a deal with the club.
Former Scotland Under-21 star Notman was cruelly forced to retire from professional football at the age of 24 after he sustained a bad ankle injury, but has been playing for a succession of non-league clubs in England since.
He revealed he is looking forward to linking up with John Gardiner’s side.
He said: “I will spend pre-season with Formartine and hopefully everything will go well and I will be able to join permanently.
“The chairman Atholl Cadger has been absolutely brilliant and has sold the club to me with how ambitious it is. I am very excited to be getting involved.”
