ANDREA Mennie and Lowell Forsyth had never even heard of Grandholm Village when they began their search.
Both from Aberdeen city centre, the couple were expecting their first baby when they started looking for a new house.
And when they spotted the schedule for 30 Grandholm Grove, it was a stroke of luck for two reasons.
“As soon as we came to see it we fell in love with it,” said Andrea. “The house was so big and we could instantly imagine ourselves living there.
“But the real surprise was Grandholm – we’d never even heard of it and yet here was this place that is literally five minutes from town, but felt like we were out in the country.
“It’s a peaceful place to live and was perfect for us starting our family.
“There are lots of beautiful walks all around us and along the River Don, and I’ve lost track of the number of local amenities that have opened up in our time here.
“I’d recommend Grandholm Village to anyone.”
The super five-bedroom property has been a happy home to full time mum Andrea, 32, and Lowell, a 32-year-old lead planner in the oil industry. It’s had all the space they’ve needed for their little ones – two-and-a-half year old Alfie and Belle, 9 months.
And it’s been decorated throughout out with love and attention to detail. The modern lounge is big and bright with a striking black feature wall and black accessories. The light and airy room carries off the monochrome decor beautifully and it’s a room with real star factor.
The kitchen is a great family-friendly space, which Andrea describes as “the hub of the home”.
On semi open-plan basis with the family room, it too has a bright and modern decor.
Upstairs is one of the best en-suite bathrooms around. It’s a five-piece bathroom with masses of space, perfect for hectic bath times with toddlers and babies.
And the crowning glory of this house is surely Alfie’s room, with its vibrant underwater theme, created by Andrea herself.
“At the time Alfie was interested in fish so I painted the sea and the sand and got some big stickers of the creatures to apply to the walls.
“He’s loved his bedroom but he is growing up fast and I think the next bedroom will have to have a racing car or a Grand Prix theme.”
Outside, Andrea and Lowell have added a lovely decking area, perfect for al fresco dining in the summer. Andrea added: “We are sad to be moving on but we’ve enjoyed our quiet location here so much that we’re now planning a move further into the country. Grandholm has given us a taste of the quiet, country life.”
