Barrie is the Links champion

BARRIE Edmond made it third time lucky in Links Championship finals as he finally got his hands on the coveted trophy.

The Bon Accord player took the title with a superb 4 and 3 victory over Caledonian’s Alex Cruickshank.

Having lost at the final hurdle in both 2003 and last year, Barrie was delighted to be crowned champion at Aberdeen’s Kings Links.

He said: “I’ve been trying to win this for a while so it is good to finally get it done.”
