SHARON McKay was so taken with her brother’s spacious home that she jumped at the chance to have a similar one of her own.

Sharon, 44, bought her five-bedroom property at Kingseat, Newmachar, off-plan and moved in three-and-a-half years ago.

And it was thanks to spending time at her brother Paul’s that she grabbed the opportunity.

“I really liked the design and the layout of Paul’s house in Elrick,” said Sharon, who originally comes from Dyce. “At the time I was thinking about extending the property I had in Newmachar, but then the Bett development came about at Kingseat.

“I went to see if there was something similar to Paul’s as I was quite taken with it and I found the Dunkeld II which is exactly the same style.”

Sharon has spent the last three years lovingly decorating and furnishing the property which she shares with her children, Scott, 17, and Cara, 14.

Two years ago she added a conservatory, which has been a favourite spot to relax in.

She said: “It’s been a great as it’s a sun trap and it leads into the garden which I’ve landscaped.

“I’ve spent a lot of time really making the house a home for us and it’s been a big task. In the end it has been a real labour of love, and I think this is a super family home.”

One of the most striking aspects of this house is its size. All the rooms are big and bright, decorated in neutral tones to show off colourful accessories and furnishings.

At the rear of the house, the elegant lounge has a lovely outlook over the landscaped garden, through a bay window.

The kitchen is also an excellent size and fitted with modern, top-of-the-range units and appliances.

Upstairs, the bedrooms are decorated in neutral tones.

The house has an integrated sound system which pipes music through speakers in the ceilings which Sharon makes the most of in the large en-suite bathroom.

“It has a Jacuzzi bath and I can have my music playing through the roof speakers, it’s very relaxing,” she said.

With Scott leaving home for college, Sharon and Cara are ready to look for a property now that’s slightly smaller.

“We’ve been very happy in this home and I hope another family can take advantage of the space here,” Sharon added.
