TURMOIL caused by the Iceland volcanic ash provided an unexpected boost for Aberdeen’s Richie Ramsay ahead of this week’s BMW PGA Championship.
For Ramsay, who opened the Wentworth tournament with a four-under 67 to lie two shots behind overnight first round leader Danny Willett, of England, gained an extra week’s preparation after a flight delay in the United States.
Ramsay, on one of his frequent trips to the Golf Club of Georgia where he is an honorary member following his US Amateur victory, took the opportunity to visit his club manufacturer’s research facility.
