And it came at exactly the right moment for the young couple as they were expecting their first child.
“Parkwood just spoke to us as soon as we walked in,” said mum-of-two Jennifer, 40.
“We liked the location.
“It had the perfect mix of feeling nice and private, but without being isolated.
“From the front of the house we look right up the Ythan Valley, so the views are lovely.
“I was eight months pregnant when we moved in so it was a busy few months for us!”
Now proud parents to son Blair, 2, and four-week-old Kirsten, the couple said the house has been a terrific place to start their family.
Currently on maternity leave from her human resources job, Jennifer, and David, a 42-year-old chief cost engineer, are on the lookout for a new project in the same area. But when they move, she will miss one part of the house more than any other.
“The kitchen has been the real hub of the home and it’s my favourite space in the house,” she said.
“We spend a lot of time in there as it also has a family area and you access the conservatory from there.
“Blair can play in the conservatory and can go outside into the garden and it’s all very safe.”
The couple picked out the striking red fitted kitchen for their home after they moved in.
The pair have also replaced all the floor coverings and put in neutral carpets throughout the house.
As well as the stylish kitchen, Parkwood has a huge lounge which has also had plenty of use.
“It’s nice to have a space just for adults,” said Jennifer with a laugh.
“So when the children are sleeping in bed, we go and relax in the lounge.
“We’ve also both had our 40th birthday parties in this house as well as Blair’s birthdays, so we’ve made the most of all the space.”
Another modern feature of Parkwood is the en-suite wet room located off one of the two downstairs bedrooms. This big space makes for the ultimate shower experience, with lots of room to luxuriate in.
Upstairs there are a further two double rooms and a good size single making this an ideal house for a big family.
Outdoors, both the front and back gardens are huge spaces, perfect for children to run around playing.
Jennifer said: “This really would be a great house for a family as Methlick is a lovely place to live.
“There is a school and nursery in Methlick, while you’re not far from Oldmeldrum or Ellon for secondary schools,” Jennifer added.
