SCOTTISH golf legend Colin Montgomerie was in action at Deeside Golf Club today.

The European Ryder Cup captain made a flying visit to the North-east to spearhead efforts to raise £3 million to fund a new Maggie’s cancer caring centre in the Granite City.

The Evening Express revealed that Montgomerie wants to help build the centre in Aberdeen, which will be known as the Elizabeth Montgomerie Building, after his late mother, who died of lung cancer in 1991.
