On-air row with political journalist

LABOUR’S former head of communications Alastair Campbell today hit back following his furious on-air row with a leading political broadcaster.

And he branded the way the media covered the election as “a joke”.

The fiery exchange with Adam Boulton was broadcast live as it covered the aftermath of Gordon Brown’s announcement he will stand down as Labour leader.

During the confrontation, Mr Campbell accused Mr Boulton of treating Gordon Brown like “dead meat” and wanting David Cameron in Downing Street.

Today Mr Campbell said: “I think most people realise he (Boulton) behaved like a complete ...very unprofessional. I have to say I thought he was pathetic – but he needs a rest.”
