Hass’s Fish And Chips: Holburn Street, Aberdeen

MOST folk would have a right good moan if the chipper they were going to was queued out the door, and The Boss is no different.

However, after a reassuring word from yours truly, she was soon convinced Hass’s was worth the wait.

And how pleased was I to (once again) be proven correct!

The beauty of Hass’s is that everything is cooked from scratch, so there is bound to be a wee bit of standing around.

But that wait is soon forgotten about.

Normally a meat man, I went for something different with the large haddock supper (£7.20). The huge piece of fish didn’t even fit on my plate at home and it was absolutely gorgeous. Although it was a wee bit greasy – which was to be expected – the fish was tender, flaky and had just the right crispness in the batter. Lovely. The Boss’ chicken fillet supper (£5.60) involved tasty chicken encased in a crispy batter which went down a treat with the sumptuous, freshly-cut chips. And with the little feast costing just £12.80, the lesson is that The Boss should listen to me more often.
