Alex Salmond ‘a huge fan of Star Trek’

SCOTLAND’S First Minister Alex Salmond has boldly gone where no party leader has gone before – by revealing he is an “obsessive” Star Trek fan.

SNP leader Salmond, who was quizzed on his TV and radio choices in a magazine interview, said: “I am an obsessive Trekkie. Voyager was my favourite, that and first series Star Trek. I’ve seen them all so many times.”

Meanwhile, a court hearing over the SNP’s exclusion from the final prime ministerial debate was to take place today.

SNP party leaders launched a last-ditch legal bid ahead of Thursday night’s live clash.

The SNP formally lodged papers at the Court of Session in Edinburgh today, challenging the decision not to include them.

The legal action was taking place after the SNP raised £50,000 for the court battle.
