Ma Cameron’s: Little Belmont Street, Aberdeen

USUALLY when it’s a Champions League match night you would expect to fight for a table in Ma Cameron’s.

So the hush that greeted my mate and I as we entered, in spite of the big game, was eerie.

However, we quickly got over the lack of atmosphere when we got a table right next to the big screen.

To start we ordered some small nachos to share (£4.49). With a thick layer of strong cheddar, combined with the lightly salted chips, lashings of jalapenos and huge dollops of sweet salsa and sour cream, the dish was devoured faster than Lionel Messi could sprint from box to box.

Next up, my friend opted for the beef stroganoff (£8.99). He enjoyed the creamy and smooth taste of the sauce and the hearty chunks of beef more than made up for the slightly soggy rice.

I chose the chicken satay noodles (£7.49). The thick slices of crunchy peppers and onions along with the small chicken pieces were filling and the satay sauce created a delicious dish. That said, the thick noodles were on the greasy side.

Greed took over and we opted to share a bannofee pie (£3.99). While the dish lost marks for messy presentation, its taste more than made up for it.

As the players ran their socks off on screen, we sat back, thoroughly satisfied, enjoying the high quality football.
