CURRY – one of those things that you just have to have at least once a week.
And with no food in the flat and a real lack of willingness to cook, there was only one option – takeaway.
Never having been to the Spice Mill, we were entering unchartered waters, but it was certainly no run-of-the mill place.
Our chicken pakora starter (£3.95), which was breaded, was a bit dry.
However, the onion bhaji (a bargain £2.50), were just amazing. Two massive bhajis with a crunchy coating and the most delectable onion-stuffed filling. Bliss.
The Boss’ main course of chicken rogan josh (£6.45) was rammed with chunks of tomato and was bursting with flavour.
Going for something different, I opted for Mangalorean chicken salom (£8.95) which was excellent.
Slightly sweet with mustard seeds, curry leaves and honey, the tender chunky chicken just soaked it all up for a great combination. With two plain rice and a couple of poppadoms, the bill came to £25.95.
