Triple Kirks: Schoolhill, Aberdeen

POPPING out for a quiet bite to eat with a pal, we stumbled upon burger heaven.

Triple Kirks has an entire section of its menu dedicated to 20 different burger options, across beef, chicken, fish and veggie. Faced with that, we only had one choice, really – burgers.

After careful consideration, my friend opted for a chorizo and halloumi burger (£5.75). She was rewarded with a patty bursting with beefy flavour, topped with a mound of spicy sausage and nutty cheese.

Her only gripe was that the salad on the burger looked past its best.

I chose the Mexican burger (£4.95) from the “really hungry” section.

With sour cream, guacamole and jalapenos being three of my favourite things, this burger was sure to be a hit.

The chicken fillet was slightly smaller than I’d expected but the complete package was delicious and thoroughly satisfying.

Once we’d polished off our bowls of chips and the crunchy side salad (£1.25), we had another tough decision to make.

Struggling to pick just one dessert, we decided to share a chocolate brownie cake (£2.95) and chocolate peanut butter pie (£2.85).

The slab of brownie cake had a thick ice-cream layer we weren’t expecting. But the chunky brownie base, along with the rich chocolate sauce, suited us nicely. And the more modest slice of chocolate peanut butter pie was heavenly.
