TWO legendary music acts are heading for Aberdeen, it was announced today.
Scots singing sensation Sharleen Spiteri will thrill her fans at Aberdeen’s Music Hall in May, while heavy metal legends Motorhead will play the Union Street venue in November.
And tickets for both Aberdeen gigs are likely to be snapped up when they go on sale this Friday, Music Hall bosses said.
“Both Sharleen and Motorhead have a huge following in the North-east and we expect demand for their shows to be high,” said Joyce Summers, press manager of Aberdeen Performing Arts.
Sharleen will be coming to Aberdeen on May 28 as part of her UK tour to promote her new album, The Movie Songbook.
She has confessed to a fondness for playing Aberdeen because “the fans go nuts”.
Sharleen kicked off her last tour with a sell-out performance at Aberdeen’s Music Hall in January last year.
The Texas frontwoman’s new CD includes her take on classics from films, including Xanadu and The Sound Of Silence.
The Glasgow-born singer has racked up three multi-platinum albums and 13 top 10 hits with Texas.
Meanwhile, Motorhead fans will be delighted to see the rockers return to Aberdeen on November 8.
It will be their first gig in Aberdeen since they played the Capital back in 1983.
Formed in 1975, Motorhead are regarded as part of the new wave of British heavy metal, of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Founding member, Lemmy, set the band up after being fired from Hawkwind.
