George Street closed after fire breaks out

A FIRE today broke out in a three-storey block of flats in Aberdeen.
The fire was said to have started in the basement of the residential property in Aberdeen’s George Street.
The busy Aberdeen city centre road had to be closed to traffic after Grampian Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 11.50am.
A spokeswoman from Grampian Fire and Rescue Service said: “Three appliances were in attendance. There were no casualties or rescues.”
Grampian Police also attended the George Street
fire.
A Grampian Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “George Street was closed today at 12.05pm, between Hutcheon Street and Fraser Place.”
It was not known if the Aberdeen fire was suspicious.
