The Tiffin Box: Union Street, Aberdeen

WITH a pothole-damaged car, I decided to turn negative into positive by boosting my fitness by running home from work.
But halfway home, hunger pangs got the better of me, and I stopped off at a recently-opened fast food place and cafe on Union Street.
Inside, the light bite menu – a hybrid of Indian twists on western staples – makes The Tiffin Box special. To start I opted for the chicken shashlik skewers, (£1.90).
Served with a savoury raita dip, the succulent chunks of tandoori chicken and the chargrilled pepper chunks were delicious but the small portion left me ravenous.
Next I opted for a ‘100% fat free’ lentil dosa, crepe, with a chicken tikka filling (£3.90).
The crispy dosa was light, fluffy and had a slightly sweet taste, while the filling had a mild kick.
After all that exertion, I also opted for a special dosa, £4.50, with a surprise filling. With a blend of spicy chicken and minty beef, this crepe was stuffed full.
