A DAD has been killed after his motorbike was in a crash with a car on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road.
The crash came almost exactly a year after another biker died on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road.
Neville Thomson, 35, was killed when his Suzuki motorbike was in a crash with a Volkswagen Golf at the Kinmundy crossroads, just south of Newmachar on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road.
The man driving the car and a woman passenger were not injured in the crash on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road.
Mr Thomson, who had recently moved to the Newmachar area, was just a mile from his home when the accident happened.
Today floral tributes lay at the side of the road where the crash happened.
One read: “Miss you loads Nev, we promise we will take care of Julie. Rest in peace, lots of love, Jill and Kelly.”
Another message said: “Nev, gone but never forgotten.”
Investigating officer Sergeant Graham Sloan said an investigation was being carried out to discover the cause of the motorbike crash, which happened at 3.15pm on Saturday.
He added: “Again we are dealing with the needless loss of life on our roads.
“Tragically, it’s almost a year to the day when another motorcyclist similarly lost his life at the same location.”
On March 17 last year Jonathan Sheed, 26, from Oldmeldrum, died after he was thrown 20ft from his motorbike following a crash on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road.
