DONALD Trump was today inviting people to comment on a detailed masterplan for his Balmedie golf resort.

The Trump Organisation is hosting a public exhibition which shows the layout of buildings and a detailed design for an 18-hole championship course.

Menie Estate boss Sarah Malone said: “It is an opportunity for North-east people to meet the design team, including representatives from the project master planner Gareth Hoskins Architects and golf course architect Hawtree Ltd.

“The focus of this development is the championship golf course, which has been designed to the highest possible standard. “We are now ready to engage the community and provide an opportunity for people to express their views on the detailed design of the championship golf course.”

Mr Trump has outline planning permission for two golf courses, a 450-bedroom hotel,950 holiday homes and 500 houses.

The masterplan, showing the location and scale of buildings, has been submitted to Aberdeenshire Council along with an exact layout for an 18-hole championship course.

Architect Gareth Hoskins drew inspiration from towns across the North-east, including Inverurie and Fochabers.

The village, to the south of the site, will be based around a central square with shops, cafes, pubs, parks and playgrounds.

The hotel and holiday homes will overlook the course.

Detailed architectural plans will be submitted as the project progresses.

Mr Trump hopes the 7,474-yard course will one day host the Open Championship.

The masterplan will be considered by the Formartine area committee later this year.

The exhibition is at the Udny Arms Hotel in Newburgh.
