AN investigation was under way today after a fire broke out at a house near Fraserburgh – for the second time in two days.
Firefighters were first called out to a fire at the home near Fraserburgh on Tuesday but were back within 30 hours after another blaze took hold.
Nearly 30 firefighters spent three hours battling the second blaze at Cortiebrae, Cortes, near Fraserburgh.
The building was gutted by the time the fire was brought under control around midnight.
Firefighters had put out another blaze at the Aberdeenshire farmhouse on Tuesday afternoon.
It is understood the owner of the house, named locally as Graeme Ross, was not injured in either fire.
Crews from Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Maud and Turriff were called to the scene yesterday.
A fire service spokeswoman confirmed it was the same Aberdeenshire property that fire crews had attended at about 3.40pm on Tuesday.
Investigators were due to examine the scene today and a cordon remained in place around the house.
An officer involved in the dealing with the first blaze at Cortiebrae, Cortes, near Fraserburgh said it was “highly unlikely” the fire had re-ignited.
Police cordoned off both entrances to the house, which is near the junction of the A90 Fraserburgh to Peterhead road and A952 Fraserburgh to Aberdeen road.
A spokesman for Grampian Police said a joint investigation was underway with Grampian Fire and Rescue Service.
She said it was too early to say whether the fire was being treated as suspicious.
Mr Ross, who owns the house, was believed to have lived there for around eight years.
