TWO parents who lost daughters in Aberdeenshire road accidents fell in love while comforting each other, it was revealed today.

Stephan Green’s daughter Kirsty and Carla Oldham’s daughter Robyn were both 15 when they were killed in separate accidents in Aberdeenshire 10 months apart.

Stephan, 48, and Carla, 40, both from near Turriff, have been campaigning to make Scotland’s roads safer.

The parents started dating four months ago and are now helping each other come to terms with their loss.

The pair spoke for the first time when Stephan asked Carla about erecting a plaque featuring both girls at Turriff Academy.

Carla said: “I never expected this to happen – but I’m very happy.

“He makes me smile whenever things are difficult. We support each other and we’re helping each other to get through.

Stephan added: “We are in love. The relationship is great.

A fatal accident inquiry was held into Robyn’s death at Banff Sheriff Court last month where Mr Green was at Mrs Oldham’s side.

Mrs Oldham, 40, moved to Aberdeenshire in August 2008. Robyn enrolled at Turriff Academy, where she became friends with Kirsty.

But Robyn died just weeks later when she was hit by a car after stepping off her school bus.

Kirsty attended her funeral, but just 10 months later she was killed in a car crash.

She was a passenger in a car involved in a collision with another vehicle on the road linking the A947 Aberdeen-Banff road with the B9170 between Cuminestown and New Deer.

The accident also claimed the life of Ryan Brown, 18.
