PEOPLE in Aberdeen are being asked to be on their guard against a scam e-mail.

Aberdeen City Council’s trading standards team has issued a warning over a Western Union e-mail which is circulating.

The alert comes after Aberdeen councillor Kate Dean received the e-mail, asking for bank details, and passed it on to trading standards.

Principal trading standards officer in Aberdeen Del Henderson said: “This is an example of a ‘phishing’ e-mail which is designed to entice people into giving out their bank account or other personal details.”

And the trading standards officer warned the Aberdeen public not to give away any personal details and not to reply.
