PAUL Marshall today revealed he fears the Pittodrie pitch could cost him a new Aberdeen FC deal.

The 20-year-old signed in the January transfer window from Manchester City until the end of the season.

But he admitted the uneven surface at Aberdeen FC has so far prevented him from showing his best for the Reds.

“At the moment the pitch is very poor,” he said.

“It is very hard to play the ball on the ground and I haven’t been able to show how well I can play football because the pitch is so bad.

“It’s having an affect throughout the team.

“In defence when it’s bouncing about, all the defenders can do is clear it long because they can’t take risks.

“That’s frustrating for me in midfield, but I understand why they do it because the pitch is so bad.

“Getting a new contract all depends on how I do between now and the end of the season.

“If I do well, then they will want to keep me.”

Not all matches are played at pittodrie so whats the excuses for the rest?? Fed up with players using everything/everyone but themselves for poor performances.

you lot are unbelievable!!! Marshall has only been with us for 2 months and 11 days and he's played in his preferred position once (against D Utd) yet already he's being written off and put on the scrapheep next to Leon Mike. The boy is a creative CM and should be given a shot there instead of yon ghost macD. By all accounts he was extremely highly thought of in Manchester and we took over his contract to try and make sure no one else got a look in. The pitch is like a tattie field and he says its making it hard for him to play his passing game... no more, no less. Not an excuse for losing, notr an excuse for anything, he's only saying he'd like a chance to show the manager he's worth an extension... Isnt that the sort of commitment you lot moan that other players dont have? Also, Chris wasnt MacLean in the papers just a couple of days ago saying the team weren't playing well - no excuses. Same with Zander - no excuses. Moaning for the sake of it...

I AGREE WITH BRIAN! Couldn't of said it better! I'd like to see any football team play flowing football on our swamp! I'm sure even the best would have somethin to say about the state of our pitch!
