MORE rogue Travellers have joined a camp in the heart of a park in Stonehaven
At least 20 caravans are now parked at Stonehaven’s Baird Park.
The Travellers have spilled from a lorry park onto the grass of a recreation area in Stonehaven used for children’s football and school sports.
The new batch of caravans, which started arriving the Baird Park site at around 6pm yesterday, joined five caravans, which were believed to have been at the Stonehaven park for the past six weeks.
Stonehaven Community Council chairman David Fleming today said: “It’s very disappointing that Travellers have yet again chosen Stonehaven to set up camp.
“We hope Aberdeenshire Council will take the prompt action to have them moved on.”
He said the area in Stonehaven the Travellers had camped on was a well-used football pitch.
He added: “Any encroachment on Baird Park is totally unacceptable.”
