A TAXI boss today slammed Aberdeen City Council claiming workers were tackling a rural route instead of busy roads.
Redmoss Road in Cove has been shut while the authority’s roads department carries out drainage work and fixes potholes.
The move today sparked anger among drivers who said there were roads in Aberdeen requiring more immediate attention.
Rainbow Taxis managing director Russell McLeod said he could not understand the logic of the roads department.
“I can’t believe they are prioritising a rural road when you look at the state of some streets in the city,” he said.
“The road is not used by anyone apart from those who need access to the farm which is located there.”
But an Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman insisted the road was well-used.
“The road is close to Wellington Road and there are motorists who use it as a short cut which means it can become extremely busy,” she said.
Today, potholes remained on routes throughout Aberdeen, including Harcourt Road, Ross Crescent, Salisbury Terrace and Cairnaquheen Gardens.
Aberdeenshire Council was also advising motorists the A920 Huntly to Dufftown road at Easter Bodylair, Glass, will be closed from Monday for two weeks for reconstruction works.
And £30,000 improvements are to be made to a busy Aberdeen roundabout. The Nestrans-funded project at the Queen’s Cross roundabout is a bid to cut congestion and improve safety.
