A CAR today burst into flames outside an Aberdeen curling rink.
The fire, which took hold of the bonnet of the silver Volkswagen Polo, was spotted by a passer-by at Curl Aberdeen on the city’s Eday Walk.
Crew manager of Grampian Fire and Rescue Service Martyn Ferguson said: “It’s hard to tell how it happened because of the damage to the car.”
He said the fire in the Volkswagen Polo could have started due to an electrical fault or as a result of a perished fuel line.
Mr Ferguson added: “We received the call at 9.47am and used one hose reel and one breathing apparatus.”
Car owner Eleanor Anton, from Aboyne, said she had parked her car outside the curling centre when a friend came in to say a vehicle was on fire.
Eleanor said she went outside and saw the flames and “one or two explosions” followed.
Meanwhile, a car today flipped onto its roof on the A944 Alford to Aberdeen road, ending on a verge.
The woman driver was able to get herself out and was uninjured in the crash, about a mile out of Dunecht.
The A944 Alford to Aberdeen road remained open after the crash which happened at about 7.40am.
A Grampian Police spokesman said one unit attended the incident.
