Weeks of work expected on A90

TRAFFIC was held up today as a major programme of roadworks started on one of Aberdeenshire’s busiest routes.
Work on several parts of the A90 Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road was expected to continue for two weeks, with delays likely.
Transport Scotland said it would spend £110,000 resurfacing sections of the trunk road.Recent snow, ice and flooding caused parts of the Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road to collapse, and continuing freezing temperatures delayed the repairs, which were due to get under way a week ago.
The work near Foveran finally started at 7pm yesterday and continued until 6.30am today.
Long queues started forming shortly after the restrictions were put in place as commuters headed north along the route away from Aberdeen.
Traffic from the Ellon direction heading towards Aberdeen was also forced to slow while works were carried out today.
Stretches of road at Auchmacoy and north of Toll of Birness will also be worked on during the next fortnight.
Traffic will be taken through the works in a convoy system with a 10mph speed limit.
A BEAR Scotland spokeswoman warned adverse weather and low temperatures could affect progress or result in further delays to the programme of work.
