A SKIER was recovering today after he crashed into a skidoo in the French Alps.

Sweyn Ross, 20, was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble after receiving multiple injuries in the high-speed crash.

The builder’s labourer broke a leg, wrist and ribs and was kept in an induced coma overnight.

And he spent two days in intensive care as a result of his injuries.

Sweyn was due to undergo surgery today to repair his fractured cheekbone and eye socket.

Sweyn today said he had brain scans to check for any damage.

“I think that was the worst part for my family, but once I got the all clear, they were okay,” he said.

His father, Alasdair Johnston, who lives in Torry, Aberdeen, was right behind him when the accident happened.

The 48-year-old found his unconscious son lying several feet from the damaged snowmobile, and a buckled ski.

The pair were three days into a holiday at Courchevel and were ski-ing on piste when the skidoo, ridden by a worker from the lift company, hurtled across their path.

Alasdair said: “He’s probably lucky – if he’d hit the big metal bull bars I don’t like to think of the mess he’d have been in.”

The first paramedic arrived within five minutes and a helicopter landed with a doctor to fly Sweyn to hospital.

Sweyn underwent surgery where metal plates were fitted in his left leg to repair two broken bones.

He hopes to return to Aberdeen on Friday to recuperate at his dad’s Torry home and his mum’s home at Cromarty.
