Ifil would play up front if boss wanted him to
But he would need some extra training

DEFENDER Jerel Ifil today insisted he is willing to play as a striker for Aberdeen FC – but will need some extra training.
Aberdeen FC boss Mark McGhee revealed he was considering playing ‘The Beast’ in attack against Hamilton.
After the Dons strikers had struggled to find the net, McGhee believed Ifil could add some muscle to his strike force.
Ultimately, McGhee went with a triple attack of Steven MacLean, Sone Aluko and Michael Paton, with Ifil on the bench.
Ifil said: “The gaffer talked about playing me up front, but it was quickly dismissed.
“But to be honest, I would need a little bit of practice before I played up there.
“The last time I played as a striker was when I was nine years old.”
Aberdeen’s strikers yet again failed to find the net, with fellow central defender Zander Diamond grabbing the decisive equaliser in the recent 1-1 draw with Hamilton.
Aberdeen have now registered 25 goals in 27 league games all season.
The club’s top scorer is defender Charlie Mulgrew, who has netted five times.
But Ifil is convinced the Dons strikers will eventually hit the goal trail.
“We definitely have strikers at the club who will go out and regularly get us goals,” he said.
