A CLOSE friend of an Aberdeen mugging victim who died in hospital today claimed the OAP lost the will to live.

Lorraine Livingstone said bright and active Sheila Marnoch was “robbed of her lively spirit”.

Miss Marnoch, 75, was left battered and bruised after she was targeted in Aberdeen’s Woodside area.

Miss Marnoch’s bag was stolen and she was shoved to the ground by the thief while making her way home from shopping.

CCTV pictures of the suspect have been released by police in Aberdeen.

Neighbour Mrs Livingstone said: “She was such a lively woman who was always on the go.

“The man who attacked her just robbed her of her lively spirit.

“I still can’t believe it. I hope this thug is caught.

“He needs to be caught before he does this to someone else.

“Sheila just went downhill – she gave up all faith.”

Miss Marnoch died on Sunday night in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she had been since the attack on February 13.

Mrs Livingstone, of Aberdeen’s Hilton area, said: “It is a real shock. She was a lovely lady who was always fit and healthy. I really hope they catch the thug who did this to her – it’s terrible.”

“She was a really nice woman who didn’t deserve what happened.”

Mrs Livingstone said she hoped the attacker was caught soon.

She said: “I really hope police catch the man responsible, or hopefully he feels extremely guilty and hands himself in.”
