JEREL Ifil today urged the Red Army boo boys to lay off Aberdeen FC and get behind the struggling team.
The shell-shocked defender revealed he has never been at a club which has experienced such heavy criticism.
English stopper Ifil insists some of the pelters directed at the misfiring team, who are now nine games without a win, has been “over the top”.
And he wants the jibes to stop, as he believes the only way Aberdeen FC can salvage their season is for the players – and fans – to be united.
He said: “Some of the criticism has been over the top.
“I have never experienced a team suffer such criticism before in my career.
“But Aberdeen FC is a massive club and expectations are very high.
“Fans are entitled to their opinions.
“Criticise us, yes, we accept that, but let’s not go over the top.
“The fans’ support is what we need.
“We can only move forward if we have the support of the fans.
“They can be a big help to us and I can assure the fans that the players and the gaffer are trying their hardest to get it right and turn around this recent form.”
