AN ABERDEEN actress has landed the role made famous by an Oscar-winning Hollywood actress.
Former Aberdeen Grammar School pupil Amy Lennox originally landed the role of Margot in the West End hit Legally Blonde – adapted from Reese Witherspoon’s blockbuster movie.
Margot is a best pal of main character Elle Woods, a role which was being filled on stage by actress Sheridan Smith, famous for starring in comedies Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Gavin and Stacey.
After a few months of performing in the show, Amy was asked to step into the lead role as Elle, after Sheridan began losing her voice.
The Aberdeen actress said she had been cast as Sheridan’s understudy when she landed the part of Margot.
The former Aberdeen Grammar School pupil said: “I have done four shows playing Elle after Sheridan had to take time off to rest her voice.
“And I will be covering the role again later this month and again in May.
“It was a great chance for me to take on the role and make it my own.”
Amy, who trained at Guildford School of Acting (GSA) in London, has starred in a string of shows including a West End production of The Sound of Music, Peter Pan and Cinderella.
She had a minor role playing an American girl in the Keira Knightley feature film Never Let Me Go.
