A POLICE probe is under way after a car was set on fire in Aberdeen.

Grampian Police are investigating after the black Ssangyong Rodius – worth around £15,000 – was gutted by the fire in Aberdeen’s Northfield area.

The car was parked in a loading bay next to Byron Fast Foods in Northfield.

Staff at the Aberdeen takeaway said the car belonged to a colleague who did not want to comment.

Charlie Ross, who works in the nearby Northfield Chinese takeaway, said he saw the car “completely ablaze”.

“I didn’t want to go too close to it, in case it blew up,” he said.

No one was injured in the incident.
