ABERDEEN FC boss Mark McGhee today admitted watching a replay of their worst performance of the season has convinced him they can still make the SPL’s top six.
Aberdeen FC’s 1-0 defeat by Hearts was described by many as the worst match seen in Scotland’s top flight so far in this campaign.
But that didn’t stop McGhee watching a DVD rerun of the whole 90 minutes.
Mind you, he waited until the wee small hours of Monday morning and even made sure his family were all tucked up in bed before he dared to switch on Aberdeen FC’s home-made horror movie.
McGhee than studied the coverage of the Hearts game in depth and believes he saw enough to convince him his men can bounce back from that defeat by winning at Hamilton on Saturday.
McGhee said: “You need to watch the games again, even the bad ones, because there’s always things you will see that can help you in the next match.
“I wasn’t looking forward to doing it this time.
“I also knew I wouldn’t be much company, which is why I waited until my family had gone to bed.
“But you have to watch the games to be sure you haven’t missed anything that could be important.
“Sometimes you end up feeling even more depressed because you thought it was slightly better when you saw it live.
“There are also times when you think you have played well and the DVD evidence proves that wasn’t the case.
“I had expected the worst when I watched this one but, do you know something, it wasn’t actually all that bad.
“Watching the first half in particular gave me a lot of encouragement.
“That’s because it was clear to see every Aberdeen player out there was trying his hardest.”
