RESIDENTS have hit out after 119 potholes were found on their Aberdeen street.

And now Bressay Brae in Aberdeen’s Sheddocksley has earned itself an unwanted title – the Grand Canyon.

The nickname was given to the road after residents counted 119 potholes along the Aberdeen street which covers little more than 100 yards.

Helen Slotwinski, 57, has been left furious by the number of potholes on the street and has written to Aberdeen City Council demanding action.

The receptionist said: “I am having to use my daughter’s car because the tracking on my car is broken.

“There are just so many potholes and nothing is being done.”

Resident Charlotte Percival, 42, said: “It’s just awful. It looks like the Grand Canyon.

“It has been like this for the past year but it has become worse now because of the bad weather.”

MSP Richard Baker warned that action had to be taken.

He said: “There could be a serious injury.”

Aberdeen City Council bosses have pledged to sort the road.

A spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the condition of Bressay Brae and the jetpatcher will be used to carry out repairs as soon as possible.”

Brian Adam, MSP for Aberdeen North, said the city had a “serious problem”.

He said: “Some of the holes are not just dangerous to cars but could potentially cause accidents.”

Try Fairview Brae in Danestone. It was bad before all the traffic was diverted down it when Fairview St was resurfaced, now it's a joke. More gravel and holes than road surface.

there is not a street in Aberdeen that does not have an excessive amount of potholes due to neglect by the roads department PRIOR TO THE winter weather making things worse.. go to the following web site and add your comments http://www.potholes.co.uk/users/login
