Tiger Tiger: Shiprow, Aberdeen

I’VE LIVED in Aberdeen for more than a year, so it was high time my brother and his girlfriend paid me a visit.

And after a busy morning showing the Geordie duo the delights of the city centre, we had worked up quite an appetite.

Enticed by the competitive prices, we decided to try lunch at Tiger Tiger. Settling in to the modern, yet slightly shabby, surroundings, we made our choices. I plumped for the classic Caesar salad with cajun chicken (£6). With crisp cos lettuce, homemade croutons, parmesan and plenty of tasty chicken, it was absolutely delicious, The best salad I’ve had in a long time, in fact.

My brother was pleasantly surprised by his hot tuna melt (£4). It wasn’t just the cheese that was hot, as the two halves of soft baguette had a spicy zing. Definitely a twist on a classic sandwich.

My brother’s girlfriend picked the penne pasta (£4). With heaps of pasta, served in a tangy tomato, basil and chilli sauce, she was more than happy.

The only downside was that the two cafe lattes (£2) we ordered weren’t quite piping hot enough for us. With the coffees and a coke (£1), the bill came to a pleasing £19.

So with Tiger Tiger’s great service and delicious food to tempt them back, hopefully my guests won’t wait so long for their next visit.
