MARK McGhee hopes salvaging a draw at Hamilton will end the toughest spell of his managerial career.

In a nightmare month, the Aberdeen FC boss has been spat at, criticised and had his team’s attitude questioned.

Critics have even claimed his Aberdeen FC team were potential relegation fodder after three successive defeats.

Yet McGhee insists both he and his players never gave up their self belief.

And he believes scrapping out a 1-1 draw at Accies could be a turning point in the season.

McGhee said: “The last three or four weeks have been as difficult as I have ever experienced in my managerial career.

“It really turned after the Scottish Cup defeat to Raith Rovers, and since then I have never known anything like it. But never at any point did we get down.”

McGhee is clearly passionate about the criticism his side have suffered.

And he repeats, to emphasise his point.

“Never at any point did we have any doubt that what we were doing was right to try to bring it around.

“And we will keep doing that by working hard.

“That will continue with our next match against St Johnstone and we will go into that game looking for a win.

“After three straight defeats we have, hopefully, stopped the rot now by drawing at Hamilton.”

I agree that it's a sad reflection on AFC that a draw at Hamilton is seen as a turning point. Zander for captain next season.
