Spate of accidents as experts give weather warning

A WOMAN and her two children were injured today when their car careered off a road and landed on its roof.

The crash happened as snow and ice swept across the area, with weather experts warning more snow was on the way.

The family’s blue MG went off the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road today, a mile south of Fyvie, before flipping and crashing in a field at 5.20am.

Paramedics treated the three at the scene before rushing them to ARI.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Meanwhile, two cars were involved in a crash on Aberdeen’s Wellington Road at 6.50am today. No one was injured.

And a three-car crash happened on the unclassified Kirkton of Skene to Garlogie road, near Westhill, at 8.15am.

It was not known if anyone was injured.

Another car hit a tree near Inverurie, leaving a woman with head injuries. The driver lost control of her silver Honda Jazz close to Monymusk.

The car left the B993 Tillyfourie to Kemnay road at 9.15am.

The injured Inverurie woman did not need hospital treatment.

Another car came off the A93 outside Nether Park Farm in Drumoak, near Peterculter just before 11am today.

In a separate crash, a woman was taken to hospital with a wrist injury after a two-car collision on the A952 Toll of Birness to Lonmay road, just outside New Leeds, at 1.40pm yesterday.

Meanwhile, five people were hurt and three seriously injured in a crash with a gritting lorry.

The accident happened on the A9 Stirling to Perth road near Dunblane at 8.30pm yesterday.

The northbound lorry initially collided with a black Chevrolet car heading in the same direction before a white Mercedes van and a red articulated lorry, both heading south, collided with the vehicles.

The 51-year-old man suffered life threatening injuries. His 44-year-old passenger also sustained serious injuries.

The 60-year-old man driving the articulated lorry was also seriously injured. Both the 40-year-old woman driver and 17-year-old male passenger of the Chevrolet car sustained minor injuries.
