A LEARNER driver was taken to hospital today after her car crashed with a lorry on the Aberdeen to Peterhead road.
The woman, believed to be in her early 20s, had to be cut free from the wreckage by fire crews.
She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance with lower leg injuries.
Her driving instructor was also taken to hospital suffering minor injuries after the crash, on the A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead road, a mile north of Toll of Birness.

He said the learner driver, who was accompanied by an instructor, was heading towards Hatton when the car collided with a lorry.
The front of the white car, which was branded with BSM lettering, was left crushed after the crash. The front windscreen of the vehicle was also smashed.
And the front of the lorry was left with a minor bump.
Traffic was backed up after the main route was closed following the smash, which happened around 11am.
Southbound traffic was diverted from the A90 at Longhaven on to the A975 Longhaven to Newburgh road, through Cruden Bay.
Northbound traffic was directed on to the A952 Toll of Birness to Rathen road, via Mintlaw.
Meanwhile, a woman was taken to ARI with neck injuries after a crash on an unclassified stretch of road between Hatton and Cruden Bay.
The smash involved a white Ford transit van and a red Citroen Xsara.
Grampian Police attended the crash at 7.40am.
A police spokesman said: “A female was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with suspected neck injuries.
“The council agreed to go out and grit the road because it was said to be particularly icy.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We took one person to hospital with what are believed to be seatbelt injuries.”
On another road police were called to a two-car smash on the Aberdeen to Banchory road at Milltimber around 7am today.
None of the people involved were taken to hospital.
A police spokesman said: “We received the call at 6.55am to attend a two-vehicle crash. Traffic was backed up from the Peterculter side for a while.”
Elsewhere in Aberdeenshire, on the B974 Fettercairn to Marykirk road, a car smashed into a tree.
The Scottish Ambulance Service, Grampian Fire and Rescue Service and Tayside Police all attended the smash after the Volkswagen Polo left the road and crashed into the tree at 7.30am today.
A Tayside Police spokeswoman said: “We attended the scene and the driver was safe and well. The road was not closed and police officers managed to conduct the traffic.”
