WEATHER experts predicted more snow was due to hit the Aberdeen area today.
The region woke up to ice and frost, with temperatures at Aboyne falling to minus 3.5C (25.7F) overnight.
At Aberdeen Airport the mercury dipped to a bitter -2.5C (27.5F), at Fyvie Castle the temperature fell to -1.9C (28.5F), with temperatures at zero along the Banff coast.
The Met Office today said further sleet and snow showers were expected.
A forecaster for Aberdeen said: “In the city we can expect to see rain and sleet showers throughout the morning. But later on it should be drier with some sunny spells.
“However, south of the city, in areas like Stonehaven and Laurencekirk, there could be a few wintry flurries today.
“Temperatures will also remain quite cold throughout the day. And the frost will stay overnight.”
Temperatures were due to stay at around 3C (37.4F) in Aberdeen and were expected to be slightly cooler in parts of Aberdeenshire with most areas staying at 2C (35.6F) throughout the day.
