Europe to consider rescuing Greek economy
EU leaders look to solve debt crisis

EU LEADERS were to consider bailing out Greece today in a move to restore global confidence in the single currency.
The reluctant German-led move to tackle the Greek debt crisis was on the cards at a Brussels summit originally called to consider long-term plans for jobs and growth.
Instead it has been overshadowed by the Greek government’s deep financial troubles which threaten to spread to other “eurozone” countries.
The UK, which is not in the single currency, is not directly implicated and officials in Brussels said London had not been asked to be part of any rescue plan.
But Prime Minister Gordon Brown has as much interest as anyone at the summit table in talking up the euro and the European economy in general.
His spokesman said: “This is a matter for the eurozone. The Greek debt is a eurozone debt.
“The PM believes it is important that Greece addresses its debt reduction plan, which is their priority.”
