A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being found injured in a garden.

Police cordoned off a property, on Portlethen’s Burnside Gardens after the woman was discovered “bleeding and badly bruised”.

A Grampian Police spokesman said officers were called to the scene in Portlethen.

The woman was then taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

An investigation has been launched by police to find out how the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was injured.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We took one woman to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. She had facial injuries.”

Neighbours in Portlethen today said there had been police activity at the house, owned by Hazel Caie, since the woman was found.

A neighbour added: “Hazel has been living alone since her father died a number of years ago.

“No one knows what happened.”

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “We were called to the property at about 9am.

“The circumstances are still being investigated and at this stage it is not clear how the woman became injured.”
