A PREGNANT woman was one of five people taken to hospital after a crash near Aberdeen.
The woman was in a silver Volvo XC90 when it was in a crash with a MG Rover, careered off the road and mounted a crash barrier.
The crash happened on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverurie road, near the Marshall trailer plant.
The woman, who is five months pregnant, was travelling in the Volvo with three men.
She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with abdominal pains. Her injuries were not thought to be serious.
The three men were also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. One had a broken arm.
The driver of the black MG Rover had to be cut free by firefighters.
Crews cut the roof off the car to rescue the trapped 60-year-old man.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a chest injury. His condition was described by ambulance crews as serious, but not life threatening.
Fire, police and ambulance crews all attended the crash, which happened on the westbound carriageway at 5.30pm yesterday.
Police closed off the road to cars heading out of the city for two hours while debris was cleared from the carriageway.
Road policing Sergeant Ian Falconer said: “We are investigating how the accident happened but at the moment we do not know.
“It is possible that both cars were on the same carriageway.
“We would appeal for any motorists who saw the accident to come forward with any information.”
