Kilmarnock sign former Aberdeen FC player

KILMARNOCK boss Jimmy Calderwood is delighted after securing the loan signing of former Aberdeen FC midfielder Scott Severin.

The Scotland cap left Pittodrie last summer to sign for English Championship team Watford.

But Severin recently fell out of favour and has moved to Kilmarnock until the end of the term.

Severin is reunited at Rugby Park with Calderwood, who was his manager at Aberdeen FC for five seasons.

Calderwood said: “It is a fabulous signing. Scott was wonderful in his last season at Aberdeen FC.

“He was a bit frustrated at Watford. He did well at the start of the season then got an injury.

“Scott is a very experienced player with tremendous leadership qualities.

“He was my first signing at Aberdeen on a free transfer and he did all right for me there.”

Calderwood was busy on deadline day, also securing loan moves for Aberdeen’s Chris Maguire and Watford defender Rob Kiernan.

Kilmarnock face a Celtic side in the SPL tonight transformed by boss Tony Mowbray during the January transfer window.

Calderwood said: “No matter what team Tony puts out it will be very strong and we know how difficult it is going to be.”
