Adele to stage ‘thank you’ gig in Aberdeen

Alford star to perform at Lemon Tree

ADELE Sande’s fans in the Aberdeen area are getting a last chance to see the rising music star “up close” before she hits the big time.

The Alford singer/songwriter, whose stage name is Emeli Sande, will play a one-off gig at Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree on March 5.

Adele, who has as penned a track for X Factor superstar Cheryl Cole and is writing for Alicia Keys, is making a real impact as a performer in her own right.

The solo performance is intended for Adele, now based in London, to show her appreciation for the support of the support of her fans in the Aberdeen area now the Alford singer/songwriter’s career is on the verge of the big time.

Ben Torrie, artistic director of The Lemon Tree, said: “All the indications are that Adele, under her stage name Emeli Sande, is about to became a really big name in the music world.

“This gig may be the last chance for fans to see her in such an intimate setting.

“We are thrilled that she’s decided to come here with this special ‘thank you’ .”

Aberdeenshire singer/songwriter Adele wrote Boys, the B-side to Cheryl Cole’s hit Three Words.

With her first solo single, Daddy, due to be released next month, music industry insiders are tipping Emeli Sande as an artist to watch this year.

The 22-year-old Alford lass has also performed with Chipmunk at the prestigious Mobo awards and is to feature in a music video by British rapper Wiley.

Adele clearly has a big year ahead of her and is scheduled to work with glittering artists such as Ms Dynamite, girl band The Saturdays and rapper Tinchy Strider.

Adele, a former Alford Academy Pupil, had taken a year out from studying medicine at Glasgow University to concentrate on singing and songwriting.
