A MAN was killed today when a 30ft lorry overturned and crushed two cars.
Police said the truck careered off the road, crashed through a wall and landed on top of cars on a driveway.
Emergency services were called to the accident on the A98 Fraserburgh to Macduff road, near Longmanhill, amid reports the lorry driver was trapped.
But the man, believed to be in his 50s, and from Mintlaw, died at the scene.
Grampian Police Sergeant Graham Sloan today said: “It is too early to speculate on the cause of the crash, but it happened after a bend in the road.
“The lorry has damaged the boundary wall of a house and hit two cars in the driveway.”
The crash happened around 5.30am on the A98 Fraserburgh to Macduff road, near Longmanhill.
Rubble and debris could be seen scattered near the scene of the crash.
Police closed off a stretch of the road and diversions were put in place while officers carried out investigations.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to the crash, but the man died at the scene.”
A Grampian Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said three engines were called to the crash but were not needed.
