INVERURIE Locos boss Dave Cormie today claimed Ross County will be a tougher test in the Scottish Cup than Mark McGhee’s Motherwell were last season.
The Highland League side are very much the underdogs going into the clash against County, and it would represent the shock of the round if they progressed through to the fifth round.
The Staggies are still hopeful of promotion to the SPL this season, and currently sit 12 points behind leaders Dundee with three games in hand.
And with County entering such a crucial part of their campaign, Inverurie boss Cormie admitted he expects them to provide fiercer opposition than Motherwell did last season.
He said: “I have had them watched a couple of times and we are in for a hard time because they are a very good team.
“In a way it will be a tougher game than against Motherwell last season.
“Motherwell just came to Harlaw and although they beat us 3-0 they only really did what they had to do and were never playing at full tilt.
“But Ross County are a young side who are gunning for promotion and will be firing on all cylinders.”
