WITH the cold snap continuing longer than endless repeats of Friends on TV, we decided to spice things up with a curry from an old favourite.

Starting things off with chicken pakora (£2.65) and onion bhaji (£1.90) we were immediately impressed. With no grease whatsoever on either meal, the large portions of crispy pakora and tender soft onion went down a treat.

My fiancee’s main course, chicken chilli masala, (£5.90) had a lovely taste to it and was laden with sauce. However, it could have done with an extra wee kick to ward off the winter chill.

The New Year brings changes, so instead of going for my predictable chicken Mrs Baird special (my word, it’s gorgeous), I opted for the murgh lahore (£6.90).

A chicken and prawn dish with a rich curry sauce, it was lovely and certainly had the desired effect as I settled down in front of the telly for another night’s inane viewing.

Including a shared portion of rice (£1.90) and a naan bread (£1.95), the total bill was £21.25.
